Next week, Saturday 9th June, is the second annual Brighton (second for Brighton, there have been four world ones) Naked Bike ride. Main website here.

Got my kids that day but still want to get involved, maybe they could go in the trailer of my bike! The slogan is 'bare as you dare', I'm not sure about going completely naked, need to get some skin coloured underwear!
What's the point? Well....

1. Protest against the global dependency on Oil

3. Obtain real rights for cyclists
4. Demonstrate the vulnerability of cyclists on city streets
5. Celebrate body Freedom

That's a picture from last year. In 2006 the police didn't want the participants to go completely naked and threatened to arrest anybody who did, this year after a initial no attitude, the police have reversed their policy and allowed full nudity. I think mainly because every other police force in the country allows it for their rides(London, Manchester, Southampton and York).

Everyone should sign this petition also. The main jist of it is that they want to change the wording of the Highway Code to say that cyclist should use cycle facilities 'wherever possible'. This change of wording from 'wherever practical', means that cyclist will lose claims if in an accident when they are on the road but there is a cycle lane nearby. Say I am approaching a roundabout and I want to turn right, if I stay in the cycle lane then I am in the wrong place to turn right. Sometimes the cycle lanes are ridiculous and dangerous to use.

Here is a link to a really interesting database of old consoles, there are some real classics in there and a loads of ones I never knew existed.

I started out with an Atari 2600 original and had EVERY single Atari, right up to and including the ST's. The favourite Atari I had was an Atari Lynx. Playing California games on it was one of the best things ever (Still is). I will always remember the excitement of when I first bought it, like it was only yesterday.

The Sega Nomad is probably the most chunky of the portables, at around 5inches thick, it must have been a nightmare to use. It took Sega Saturn (Megadrive) cartridges!

Batman rocks, he is the best vigilante ever, I say vigilante because he is hardly a superhero. He has no superpowers, just a(un?)healthy obsession with bats and gadgets.
He is just as hard as the other superheroes, he even once gave Superman a bloody nose by hooking up his exo-skeleton to the city power grid. I love the fact that Superman gets a good hiding from Batman (he nearly kills him), he is so bloody bumlicky of America it makes me sick.

Looking forward to the Nasty letter, hope it's good, I've got my expectations up now!

I used to support Oxford United (In the eighties I had a season ticket for 3 seasons, they went from the 3rd to the 1st and then on to win the milk cup, beating QPR, haha), on the way to the match on a Saturday, invariably my dad and I would go past this sight in Headington.
Bill Heine, an American, erected this huge Shark in the roof of his house on the 9th of August 1986, to commemorate 41 years since the Nagasaki bomb drop. He fought long and hard to keep it there as Oxford City Council did not like it one bit. He proved it was safe and I am glad it is still there now.

He owned 'Moulin Rouge' a cinema which had the stripy cancan legs sticking out of them, these legs where later moved to Brighton and put on top of the 'Duke of York's', which he owned as well.
Before the Moulin Rouge was demolished and the cancan legs moved to Brighton, he had to fight to keep those cancan legs on the Moulin Rouge cinema, Oxford City Council deemed them to be advertising and thus they needed planning permission. So Bill changed the name of the Cinema to 'Not the Moulin Rogue' and won the right to have them without planning permission. Cunning!

He owned the 'Penultimate Picture Palace' in Oxford also. This is the cinema that I saw Reservoir Dogs about 15 times!

When I first moved down to Brighton, I thought that those cancan legs were following me!

I have just read an article about a most truly amazing 900x700m scale model found in a Chinese military base, of a mountain region found on the Chinese/Indian border, here. It's even got snow covered caps on the mountains.

The mind boggles at how long this took and how much effort this project must have taken!

Just read this on another blog, thought it was well funny! This is what the pope should have said by way of an apology
